Oscar night and a sketch challenge...

One of my favorite nights of the year - Oscar night!  My husband finds it funny that I watch the pre-pre-show starting at 5:00 pm - but I've been enjoying this ever since I was a little girl!  This year People magazine is even hosting a live quiz during the show on iPad - yay!  So excited!

Anyway, found a little time to make a card today - and submit it to the Card Positioning Challenge.

I've used My Mind's Eye "Hattie" papers with Stampin' Up! Cardstock and some Copic XPress blending paper.  I added ribbon, Dew drops, and Prima Flowers.

I've used three accessory images from Kraftin' Kimmie, which I actually got from her AWESOME all day scrap event last fall.

I've coloured the images with Copics (coffee cup:  E35, E33, E31, E25, B000, C7, B99, B97, B95, B93, B52.  cupcake:  BV04, BV02, BV01, BV00, B000, B93, B52, Y32, Y23, Y21.  jug:  C7, B99, B97, B95, B93, B52, BV00).

Have a great Oscar night everyone!

Warm colours, scallops, and flowers!

I made this card tonight, using scallops, warm colours, and flowers.  The warm colours are a change for me - I usually use more cool tones in my Copics.  So this gave me a chance to get my W's out and use them in my watercolor background.

These little mice are from Kraftin' Kimmie and I think they are super cute!  I love that they could work for any birthday card, even for men or coworkers.

I've used paper from my new Mind's Eye 6"x6" packs, this one is Mabel.  I think they are so, so pretty and their size is just PERFECT for making cards!

I love my brand new Scalloped Squares Nesties (which I bought this morning - a good reason to visit SGD, of course).

This card is for the following challenges:
Kraftin' Kimmie, Challenge # 67:  Scoopy Scallops
Copic Creations, Challenge #44:  Warm Colors
Stamp Something, Flowers

I've used some glitter pen to accent the plate & flame.  I've added some glaze pen (one of my favourite accessories) on their noses, hats, and icing as well.

Copics used:  Mice:  E29, E27, E25, E34.  Cake & flame:  Y08, YR31, Y11.  Icing & hats:  YR07, YR12, YR20.  Plate, candle & hats:  BG05, BG02, BG01.  Mouse outlines:  E49.  Watercoloring:  W5, W3, W1, W0, E31, BG01, Y11, YR20.

Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge # 65 - A Recipe

Well, better late than never I guess?  I've had a busy week and a business trip to Windsor along the way.  I learned everything you (didn't) want to know about wounds - very exciting stuff.  Hope to get another card or two done this weekend.  I popped by my fave store, SGD, this morning to pick up some more supplies (only my 2nd visit this week - who's counting?).  Of course, my little Sam man was charming all the ladies!  Nice to see you girlies, hope to stay longer next time!

Here's my (late) submission for the challenge!

This is the gorgeous Stella Strawberry stamp.  Isn't she cute?  Kim - I think this month's release are my FAVES!!  I've been loving them all!

I've used My Mind's Eye, Stella Rose, Hazel Papers, with Bazzill pink, SU chocolate chip and cool caribbean.  I'm not used to using so many layers, ribbon, AND buttons!  This card is pretty heavy!  Extra postage for sure!  It's 6" x 6" finished size.

I stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa (which I'm starting to like instead of black for a lot of images - seems to give a "softer" edge) and coloured with Copics (of course)!  I inked around the edges with VersaMagic Chalk Ink in Jumbo Java, and added highlights with Inkssentials White Opaque Pen.  I used my Nesties to cut the ovals.  I never seem to have enough Nesties, why is that??

CopicsDress, Shoes & Strawberries:  R89, R85, R83, R81.  Overskirt:  BG15, BG13, BG11, BG10.  Strawberry leaves:  YG97, YG95, YG93.  Hair:  E49, E29, E25, E31.  Skin:  E11, E00, E000, R20.  Outline:  BG000.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Family Day Monday

Since it was a quiet day at home, I managed to find some time to make a card in between cleaning the house and doing laundry, of course!

This is Marie Antoinette from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps.  She was a bit tricky to colour, that's for sure!  A rich red seemed right for her dress, and went perfectly with this Fancy Pants paper I had.

Copics:  Gown:  R59, R29, R24, RV11.  Dress & Bodice & Bird:  BV29, C7, C5, C3, C1.  Hair:  E49, E25, E33, E31.  Flowers, Scarf, & Seal:  Y21, Y11, E33.  Leaves:  YG97, YG95, G40.  Pearls, Feather, & Letter:  E43, E42, E41, E40.  Skin:  E31, E00, E000, R20.  Outline:  R00.  Highlights with white gel pen.

Back to work tomorrow.  Have a great week everyone!

Stamping Sunday

Well, it's a gray day out there, and my boys are busy with the PS3, so it's a Stamping Sunday for me!!

I had an AWESOME class (as always) with Aimee at Scrappin' Great Deals.  THANK YOU Aimee and Cheri!  You guys have the best mother/ daughter relationship, you are too cute!  I learn so much from these classes every single time - just love it!!

I've also been watching some super cool YouTube tutorials lately (since I've been stuck in bed with the flu - and my iPad).  I'm really liking Suzanne Dean's stuff.  She has some great 10 minute videos that have been really helpful for someone like me, who is always trying to learn more techniques - and find some more colour pairings.  The one that I really enjoyed last night, was on how to create a watercolour background, and I've tried it out here - on my beloved Kimmie Acorn Andrea (who I cannot put down).

The colours I used for the background are C3, C1, C00, B000, and E41.  I also did her hair a little differently than my first version, because I wasn't quite happy with it.  This time I used E35, E31, and YR20 - a great little combo I picked up (again) from Suzanne Dean's YouTube videos.  I did check out her blog as well, and apparently she may be coming to Ontario to teach a class this summer!  I will definitely be looking into that!

Here's another card I made this weekend.  I am a HUGE fan of the Sugar Nellie stamps from the UK.  My mother-in-law is an avid stamper as well, who lives in England.  She and I frequently exchange tips & techniques - because, surprisingly there are huge differences in the countries and in what is available.  So she introduced me to Sugar Nellie a couple of years ago.  Their shipping to Canada is fantastic by the way!  You can buy them here:  http://www.funkykits.co.uk/catalog/

This little cutie is Splashing Maggie.  Isn't she sweet?  I love her little rainboots, and colouring the puddle was fun.  Hard to see in the photo, but I popped it with the Glaze pen.

Copics:
Coat & Boots:  BG09, BG07, BG05, BG02.  Collar, shirt, stockings:  R85, R83, R81.  Umbrella handle & tips:  C7, C5, C3, C2, C1.  Hair:  E25, E31, E50.  Skin:  E11, E00, R20.  Umbrella:  BG01, BG000.  Puddle:  B05, B02, B00.  Outline:  C0.
Paper:  Echo Park Sweet Summertime.

and while I was into my Sugar Nellie's, I couldn't resist getting out this little guy.  His name is Simon in Shorts, and I've used him countless times for little boy's cards.  I'm not super happy with how his skin turned out, which is why I haven't turned him into a card yet.  But I kind of like how the red undershirt & can came out.  I was trying to match the same paper I used in the Splashing Maggie card, which I think is PERFECT for spring and for childrens' cards!

Copics
Shirt & Shorts:  B97, B95, B93, B02.  Cuffs:  YG67, YG03.  Undershirt & Can:  R29, R24, R22, R02.  Hair:  E35, E31, YR20.  Skin:  R20, E11, E00, E000.  I've also used a white gel pen for highlights.

To those of us celebrating Family Day tomorrow - happy long weekend!

First Blog! and Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Challenge #66

This is my VERY FIRST blog!  I figured after years of reading everyone elses - I should probably get to work!

Also - my VERY FIRST stamps challenge!  Big day for me, huh?

Here is my submission to the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Challenge #66!

I was definitely inspired by new new favorite Stampin' Up designer series paper, Elegant Soiree.  I LOVE blues & browns together.

And of course, the GORGEOUS new Kimmie stamp, Acorn Andrea!  I love colouring big, flowing gowns.

Copic colours used:
Cloak:  B99, B97, B95, B93.  Dress:  E44, E43, E42, E41, E40.  Acorns:  E79, E77, E74.  Leaves:  E59, E57, E55, E53.  Hair:  E57, E33, E31.  Skin:  E02, E11, E51, E00.

I used Stampin' Up! papers elegant soiree, and soft suede, as well as a white gel pen for highlights, some self-adhesive pearls, and some prima flowers.
